Everything the expedition raises goes to the YMCA of Orange County Annual Campaign. The Y is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that doesn’t turn anyone away for their inability to pay, and the Annual Campaign is how it keeps that promise: donor support funds scholarships and reduced-cost memberships, and the Y says 100% of every dollar donated goes directly into supporting the community.
That financial assistance keeps Y programs open to all regardless of ability to pay — memberships, child care, camps, swim lessons and specialty programs, including Adventure Guides. Gifts also support free community programs such as New Horizons, for adults with disabilities.
In the Y’s own words on the Adventure Guides page, the Annual Campaign means “we have the power to offer every family, child, or individual access to our services despite financial barriers.” A dad and his son on a campout because somebody else chipped in is exactly what this pays for.
How we raise it
Raffles and fundraisers at campouts, plus gifts from families on Venmo. The total above is updated as money comes in, and the Compass Bearers announce it at chapel.
A note on taxes. Venmo gifts are pooled and given to the YMCA of Orange County (Tax ID 95-1644055) as one donation. Because they pass through a personal account first, they may not be tax-deductible for you. For a deductible gift with a receipt from the Y, give directly at ymcaoc.org and mention the Broken Arrow Expedition.
