Newport Dunes Chapel
Sunday morning we gathered for stand-up chapel on the sand — no soundtrack, just boys running the call and the expedition circling up after a pirate weekend.
Compass Bearers Nick, Coen, Jones, and Davis L. opened in prayer and kicked things off with a thank-you to the Buccaneers for hosting. Log Keepers Mike and Cavan S. ran roll call, then Expedition Navigators Nate, Clark, and Kyle talked about the new skit stick for the season. Cheer Directors weren’t on hand, so the Campfire Directors stepped in to award the Skit Stick… and it went to the Mighty Creek.
Random Acts of Kindness were announced next with shout-outs to Calvin S. and Josh D. (Outlaws) and Tommy H. (Vikings).
Host Circle Navigators (Duncan and Dane D.) wrapped campout business, noting that the raffle raised $250 toward this season’s campaign.
Patch Keepers John and Alex O. presented the host plaque, and the Buccaneer Navs handed Newport Dunes patches to each circle’s Jr Navs. Wizards Joe and Patrick C. previewed the pin program and the rockers boys can earn this year.
Looking ahead, Vikings Navigators Scott and Shane S. teed up Catalina (Oct 2–4) — registration is open and closes Sept 27. Fire Starters Jeff and Logan G. covered ash collection, then the Compass Bearers closed us out with a couple of well-earned shout-outs: Josh S. (Blue Hawks) for the new expedition website, and Dane D. for the current high score on Cannonball Cove.
Clean sites, packed wagons, and Stronger Together already off to a strong start. Next stop: Catalina.
