Sunday morning we gathered for stand-up chapel at Campus by the Sea. Coen, Jones and Davis ran the call through camp, and the expedition circled up one last time before the boat ride home.

Compass Bearers Nick, Coen, Jones and Davis L. opened in prayer. They gave thanks for a great campout, with amazing weather, an amazing staff, an amazing campground and more activities than anyone could fit in, and thanked the Vikings and Rough Riders for hosting. Log Keepers Mike and Cavan S. ran roll call. Then Mighty Creek Navigators Adam and Aiden L. showed off the Jolly Roger flag they designed for the Newport Dunes skit stick. Cheer Directors Matt and Hudson W. awarded the Skit Stick, and this time it went to the Outlaws.

Random Acts of Kindness were announced next. The shout-outs went to Clark S. (Blue Hawks), Tommy H. (Vikings), Alessandro H. (Mighty Creek) and Dane D. (Buccaneers).

Next up, the Compass Bearers announced the results from the WiFi fundraiser. A total of $485 was raised towards the campaign for the year, bringing the season total to $685! Then Patch Keepers John and Alex O. presented the host plaque, and the host Navs handed out Catalina patches to each circle’s Jr Navs.

Wizards Joe and Patrick C. brought the pin program to life with the following announcements:

1. Jameson B. (Buccaneers) earned his North, South and East rockers.

2. The Wizard Award went to Joel and William H. (Blue Hawks) for doing the most pin activities since the last campout.

3. The Buccaneers took home the Dragon of Awesomeness as the circle with the most pins and rockers.

4. The Duck of Shame landed with the Outlaws, Vikings, Mighty Creek and Rough Riders, so there’s plenty of motivation before Pendleton!

Adam and Aiden L. returned to tee up the next campout, Camp Pendleton Lake O’Neill and Induction. Then Expedition Navigators Nate, Clark and Kyle presented the Navigator Award to Josh S. (Blue Hawks), who is deeply involved at every campout and with his kids. Before the closing prayer, Fire Starters Jeff and Logan G. came up to collect ash from Saturday’s campfire to carry forward to the next fire.

Cabins cleaned, bags tagged, aloha shirts on the boat, and Stronger Together keeps rolling. Next stop: Pendleton.

Log Keepers Mike and Cavan S. ran roll call, then Expedition Navigators Nate, Clark, and Kyle talked about the new skit stick for the season. Cheer Directors weren’t on hand, so the Campfire Directors stepped in to award the Skit Stick… and it went to the Mighty Creek.

Random Acts of Kindness were announced next with shout-outs to Calvin S. and Josh D. (Outlaws) and Tommy H. (Vikings).

Host Circle Navigators (Duncan and Dane D.) wrapped campout business, noting that the raffle raised $250 toward this season’s campaign.

Patch Keepers John and Alex O. presented the host plaque, and the Buccaneer Navs handed Newport Dunes patches to each circle’s Jr Navs. Wizards Joe and Patrick C. previewed the pin program and the rockers boys can earn this year.

Looking ahead, Vikings Navigators Scott and Shane S. teed up Catalina (Oct 2–4) — registration is open and closes Sept 27. Fire Starters Jeff and Logan G. covered ash collection, then the Compass Bearers closed us out with a couple of well-earned shout-outs: Josh S. (Blue Hawks) for the new expedition website, and Dane D. for the current high score on Cannonball Cove.

Clean sites, packed wagons, and Stronger Together already off to a strong start. Next stop: Catalina.
